2019/20 Newsblog Term 1 Week 3

Hello All

Here we are starting week 4 and the rain has arrived… please make sure that children have suitable footwear and coats for going outside - we do try and get outside whatever the weather! As a number of them will have the same coat please make sure all coats are named and that the children know where their name in in their coat so they can check it’s theirs - thank you.

Flu Vaccinations - action needed

We have been asked to pass on this message re Flu Vaccinations:-

Dear parents & carers,
Nasal flu vaccination – Electronic consent
As last year, the Immunisation Team will be offering the Flu vaccination to all Primary aged children. This will take place between October - December 2019 across Wiltshire/BaNES/Swindon and as last year, the consent will need to be completed electronically.
In order to provide electronic consent for your child’s Flu vaccination, please access the consent portal via the following link:

https://schoolimms.virgincare.co.uk/flu/2019/swindon

We would like to request that consent is provided as soon as possible as the link closes 7 – 14 days prior to the session in school. This link is secure, please carefully select your child’s school from the drop down menu and this will ensure that the consent is in the right place. Full details and information to assist you in completing the consent is detailed on the portal including full FAQ’s, patient information and contact details should you wish to speak to a nurse regarding the nasal vaccination.

If your child is medically vulnerable, early clinics will be available please contact the team to book in on 0300 247 0082.
If you have any difficulties or queries with this process please do not hesitate to contact the team on 0300 247 0082.
Many thanks for your cooperation

Football Report
After what was a tough first football season for Tadpole Farm last year, the second season has started off with a bang. Having hosted Tadpole Trials last week, the matches are starting to arrive thick and fast, with our first match being played last Tuesday in the glorious September sun… which resulted in Tadpole taking a valuable 3 points off of Westrop.

With some players returning from last year's squad, as well as a batch of excited year 5s, the boys started off brightly. With Briel's lightning, quick pace and Zack's organisation in midfield, we were quickly creating chances but couldn't find the back of the net. With Muhammad less busy than he was last season, he was still involved as he had to keep us in the game with several key saves. The deadlock was finally broken as some great play between Dion, Zack and Briel created an opportunity that Briel wasn't going to miss. Despite having a goal disallowed for handball, the boys went into the break two goals up after Briel got his second of the game.

The second half started well with the boys listening and playing the ball around to each other really well and this paid off as we created chance after chance. Despite missing a few opportunities, we were able to grab two more goals, both scored by Dominik, and this helped us to get our first three points of the season.

Thank you to all the support received from parents and teachers and we look forward to seeing you at our next home match on Wednesday 25th September where we entertain Westlea in the Cup.

Update re Drop Off/Parking

Things are still working smoothly with this and we really appreciate all your cooperation with not parking on site. There have been a few requests to us from parents - Q & A below:-

1. Could we ask all parents who arrive at 7:30 am or just before for breakfast club to use the whole of the drop zone - some people leave large gaps between cars or don’t pull up to the front of the space, which means others double park and children are at risk? This seems like a sensible request - if you are an early breakfast club user this would be good to do so that we avoid double parking and reduce number of children walking in front of others cars - also will mean staff can get in to park too.

2. Why don’t you stop the ice cream van parking in the lay-by - he’s taking up spaces we could use? The ice cream van has the right to park there and there is not much we can do about it as it’s outside the school boundary - whether you agree or not, ice cream vans often park outside schools - it’s where the business is for them. There’s not much we can do about this one - sorry - though as winter comes he may be there less I suppose.

3. I thought that parents picking up after school from LilyPad could use the drop zone - recently it’s been full of parked cars from people using clubs like RPA - could we have some clarification on this please? You are correct; that is the idea - I will ask that signs are put out by the LilyPad team and we will pass the message on to hall users. We don’t have staff available to make sure this happens though so it will be a case of relying on people to follow the request.
