With lots going on with the FOTF in the coming months... can you help by being a parent rep for your child's class?  This has worked very successfully in the past and means that more people can be involved - many hands make light work:)  As an incentive, each time a class rep steps up and nominates themselves to represent a class before the end of Term 3, that class will get 10 minutes extra playtime as a one-off treat - the whole class will be very grateful to you, I know.  See the FOTF newsletter for more information.

Ready, Steady, Read – February holiday sponsored read
To celebrate and encourage a lifelong love of reading at home and in school, we have organised, in conjunction with Usborne Books, a 'Ready Steady Read' event! We are really excited about this, as it means we are not only inspiring children to read at home, but we also have the opportunity to enhance the books we have available in school – something we are always keen to do!
Each child will have the chance to be sponsored for their reading during half term (or, for nursery and reception children, to listen to stories!) in order to raise money. ALL the money we raise will be spent on brand new books for school. Usborne will also add to our budget depending on how much we raise.
We can't wait to hear about all the books you read :) Please check book bags for information coming home this week, including sponsorship forms. Not sure what books to read... the local library can make recommendations or check out for age related recommendations.

News from YR and YN
Reception would like to say a big thank you to parents who donated money towards our newspaper and nativity ticket sales. Look what we bought with the money! A fantastic light table. We are loving exploring with it.
We've had some visitors in YR recently - a great story telling session, sponsored by David Wilson Homes (a huge thank you to them - photos to follow next week) and some visitors from Abbey House, one of the local homes that care for those with dementia, who spent time talking all things superheroes with YR.  This visit from Abbey House residents is the beginning of a longer term project that we hope will involve many children across the year groups as time goes on.
As our topic across YR and YN is superheroes, the last day of term (Friday 15th Feb) will be a superhero dress up day for all children in Nursery and Reception.  If you are stuck for ideas

News re dinners menus
We have now added our Spring/Summer menu to Parent pay and parents can start to book for meals for after February half term. If children are universal infant free school meals or Free school meals, you can select choices all the way up to the end of term which reduces the chance of forgetting to book meals. If parents pay for meals, they will need to checkout and pay anything owed at the time of booking.
Use the link below if you think you might be eligible for free school meals
Please note, as the hall will be out of use on Thursday 2nd May for voting, a packed lunch option has been made available and can be selected on Parent Pay.

News from St Andrews Church
I am looking forward to sharing the Spirituality and well-being week in school with a mini pop-up prayer space and seeing what art the children produce.
Your next opportunity to come to Church at Tadpole Garden Village is Sunday 10th February at 4pm, when we’ll have our time of all age worship starting with refreshments and including a craft for children.  We’ll be thinking about Jesus the miracle worker and it might get a bit stormy!  Everyone is welcome
If you’d like to receive the monthly e-news letter from St Andrew’s to keep in touch with our activities please sign up here

Football News
On Friday afternoon some of the year 3/4 boys and girls were selected to represent the school in a 5 a side tournament. They competed against 7 different schools and showed perseverance, team work and sportsmanship throughout, representing the school in a fantastic manner. The afternoon got off to a tremendous start, winning our first 2 games but unfortunately the subsequent games did not go our way. This didn’t dampen our spirits though, as we came back from 3-0 down to draw 3-3 showing just what a determined and hard-working team we were! Thank you to the parents for your continued support in helping make these days possible.

Red Noses for Red Nose Day
The school has ordered a number of Red Noses which can be ordered and paid for in advance via Parent Pay. All money will of course go to the Comic Relief Fund. Keep reading the BLOG for further information on Red Nose Day and how we’ll be marking the occasion at TFCEPA.
