2017/18 Newsblog Term 6 Week 1

Hello All

Thank you to...
:)  those families and neighbours who have been helping out with various essential jobs around school this week – FOTF now have a shed, which means we can soon clear out the classroom that they had been using for storage and begin to prepare it ready for opening up more classes in September;
:) those who helped with selling, made cakes for or bought cakes at the cake sale have helped us to be closer to setting up our library and learning zone in that area.
Whatever you can help with we are really grateful – more opportunities belowJ

There will be an area around the edge of the field for you to watch your child but we do ask that you stay within this area to ensure a smooth running of the events.  There will be an opportunity for all parents to have a picnic with their children between 12:00 and 12:45. Although Sports Day is a fun and exciting day we do still ask that the picnics you bring are still in guidance with our healthy eating policy.
YN children. If your child is not usually in session on the morning of Tuesday 19th June and you would like them to participate in sports day, please bring them along with you for the start time and staff will collect them from you when you arrive.

Come and Join Us for Lunch – Y2/3/4/5 parents/carers
Parents current year 2/3/4/5 parents are invited to come in for a lunch with children: children order in normal way on parent pay and parents can book via office, dates as follows:
Thursday 14th June and Thursday 28th June
The meal choices are the same as menu on those days. Parents can come in for 12 noon and will sit and eat with their child in the small hall. The cost is £1 for adults which is subsidised by Edwards and Ward to encourage parents to try food and continue to order hot meals going into key stage 2.

Reminders –
All Age Service next week Rev’d Sally looks forward to welcoming you and your family to the next all age service of Church@ Tadpole - on Sunday June 17th at 4pm in the main hall.  As always there’ll be refreshments, activities for children, something for adults to think about and worship for everyone. This time there’ll be a sheepy theme. Everyone is welcome, whether or not you normally attend another church.
Y3/4/5 H5 Adventure-  Any medical forms or payment needs to be in school asap. At the moment 30% of the monies due have not been paid – this may jeopardise the trip for all.  The trip is already being heavily subsidised by income we are receiving from Great Western Academy, whose new Year 7 pupils are using part of our site on the day the KS2 children are out (so the new Y7’s can visit their new school and get to know each other). It’s a great opportunity for our KS2 children and is a bonus trip they would otherwise not have been able to have.
Health and Safety  - A mum who lives locally has asked us to remind parents that children riding scooters really should be wearing helmets on the way to school and that the parents should be keeping children near them. The parent has said she has to reverse off her drive and often finds children shoot past without looking and parents are far behind.

FOTF Update and BIG ‘Thank You’ s
A huge thank you to all who helped us with the cake sale this week. We really appreciated all the lovely cake donations and a big thank you for to those who helped sell/set up and pack away afterwards and of course for supporting us by buying cakes! We raised over £200 over the two days.

A group of local residents and school parents assisted in putting up our new FOTF shed on Saturday. It was a tough day as the roof proved awkward so we would like to say a massive thank you to them. We are very fortunate to have such a supportive local community!
School have asked if anyone is willing to volunteer their time to assist with sports day on Tuesday 19th June. This will be during the afternoon session. Please email Kristina via the school email address.

Thank you for the continued support.

School Council News – reported by Poppy and Jess
On Tuesday the 5th of June, the school council met with Mrs Longhurst in the Early Years snug. Every School Counsellor was present. We planned and discussed our worship on Thursday and gave each other parts to say. We also talked about Whispering Wednesday on the 20th of June! We all agreed to make some posters to promote our fundraising event. Mrs Longhurst said we can use her classroom on Wednesday lunchtimes to make our posters.

We then went on to talk about having a post box where children can let us know their ideas and concerns. We also talked about how not every class is lining up in register order at lunch time. Mione suggested that lots of people wanted to sit by their friends. The School Council discussed this and thought we could trial sitting at the table where we want, but making sure all the tables are full, before starting a new table.
