News from St Andrew's Church
Just a reminder that our next All Age Service at Tadpole Academy is next Sunday 20th May at 4pm.  This is the day the church celebrates Pentecost, so if you don't know what that's all about do come along and find out, or if you do come and celebrate!  Either way please wear red.
Hope to see you then.

Lilypad bookings for September 2018 – Important - you must read this even if your child already attends LilyPad.

This week, we will email out a priority sign up form for breakfast and after school club for September to existing users – you must complete this form even if your child already attends LilyPad.  If you do not return the form by the deadline given, we will assume you do not wish to continue with Lilypad in September.  This priority booking form is only open until the end of this term i.e. it closes on Friday May 25th.   Sign up for LilyPad can only be done via the form.  Once the 25th May passes, places will be opened up to new parents and existing parents who currently do not use LilyPad. Remaining places available, after the priority booking period, will be allocated on a first come first served basis only.
LilyPad is an extremely popular provision and we do appreciate how necessary it is for many of you.  If you know of anyone interested in working with us to provide this service then ask them to get in touch.  We are currently looking at different ways to provide this facility as staffing for such odd hours is not proving easy – any suggestions welcome.

Junk Modelling Resources needed for Year 2

Year 2 are still desperate for junk modelling material so, before you crush your cardboard this week could you instead send it in to school – handing over bags to staff in the drop zone is most welcomeJ

Parent Workshop

Tuesday 15th May sees our final parent workshop of this academic year and we’d like to invite you along to an Open Forum.  There will be a panel of staff on hand to answer any questions you have – they may be about how to support your child with learning; they may be about keeping them safe on social media; they may be about how you can get more involved with school and the community; maybe you have burning questions about how the school is run or new ideas you would like us to consider; you may even just want to share concerns or congratulations… all and every comment, question or suggestion will be valued.
We would like this to be the start of a Parents Forum group.

To give you some background information: Our Parents Forum, open to all parents and carers of children who attend Tadpole Farm CE Primary Academy, would seek to represent the collective voice of Parents and Carers in discussions with a school's Local Board and leadership team. It will play an active role in influencing, supporting and enhancing the development and learning of all children at Tadpole Farm CE Primary Academy.

The Parents Forum will:
·       Work closely with the Local Board and School leadership team to ensure an open and beneficial dialogue exists.
·       Encourage closer links between home and school, helping parents and carers engage with their children's learning.
·       Assist Local Board Members, teachers and staff by commenting on new initiatives, drawing attention to areas of concern and contributing to solutions.
·       Enhance communication with and between all members of the school community.
·       Develop and disseminate ideas that improve the life of everyone at Tadpole Farm CE Primary Academy.

Our Parents Forum will be:
·       Collaborative: participating together for the benefit of the school community
·       Constructive: helping to identify effective solutions
·       Transparent: keeping everyone informed of meetings and their outcomes
·       Encouraging: welcoming ideas and initiatives to foster a positive ethos
·       Respectful: open to all the views and ideas of others, listened to and shared in a thoughtful and reflective manner

The Parents Forum will not be a decision-making body. It is a body which can feed in views and represent the parents and carers of issues surrounding the school.  The Parent Forum is also not the place to discuss concerns or complaints involving individual children, families or members of staff – there are other routes for this to be done already.

Does that sound something that you would like to be involved in?  If so come along on Tuesday 15th May to get the ball rolling.  Look forward to seeing lots of you attend.

Drop Zone and parking/waiting

This is an issue which keeps on coming up and there is no easy answer.  The harsh reality is that we do not, as all schools do not, have enough off-street parking for the many of you who need to drive to school.  As more people coming to the school will, as time goes on, live within walking distance then car usage may fall; though we recognise that many of you drop at school and go straight to work… as many of the staff here do as well.  This is where we have a bit of an issue at present.  The Teaching Assistants are in the classrooms from 8:30 so the teachers can be available outside, at the Drop Zone, for you to see if needed. The problem we have is that some of our teaching assistants are getting stuck in the drop zone queue, which has been starting earlier and earlier – the Teaching Assistants have asked a number of you, politely, to move over so they can park and get in to work.  In most cases the parents concerned have moved over to let them past but, sadly, in some cases the request was flatly refused.  So that the few don’t spoil the facility of the drop zone enjoyed by the many, I am appealing to you again.  The school site will be closed until just before the drop zone opens – if you arrive and the drop zone is not yet open please park up in a layby.  This will allow staff who need to be in work at 8:30 to get in to the car park.  If asked to move, by Eric the Traffic Marshall or by a member of school staff, could I please ask you to do so – it really won’t add more than 5-10 minutes to your morning and you’ll be helping the drop zone remain on offer.
