2017/18 Newsblog Term 3 Week 4

Hello All

This week our year 3 children visited Abbey Park for an afternoon of sport and they were a credit to us all – we hope this link will continue as it gives the children access to sports and space greater than that which a primary school can provide.  We also held our parent workshop which gave us hints and tips about why children do what they do – lots of very positive feedback and you’ve told us about ideas you gained, which are already making a difference – brilliant news!

Parent/Carer Workshop - this coming Tuesday 6:00 - 7:30 pm
Come along to our workshop, which looks at how children develop and how we can all support them.  Wouldn't it be great if each child came with a parent toolkit, specific to that child? - sadly, they don't... so this workshop will help us think about why children behave as they do and how we can help and support them.  Sian Sanders and Libby Moore are two of the educational psychologists we work with and they will lead the start of the workshop.  There will also be time for general discussions and hints and tips to be shared. Parents who came to the workshop on behaviour last year found it really useful - none of us are experts in children so the more we learn the more we can support them.
Please sign up here - click the word 'here' just before the hyphen and it will link you to the sign up sheet.
Computer Games

Lots of the adults in school are reporting that children are regularly talking about computer games that they play at home. The content of some of these games can be quite adult in nature. Also, when talking to children at break times about 'rough play', they are increasingly telling us that they are copying things they have either played themselves on a computer game, or seen a parent/older sibling play. Many of the games mentioned are rated between age 12 and 18 and therefore are believed to contain material which is not suitable for young eyes and ears. Please be vigilant in making sure that your children only have access to material that you consider to be appropriate for them.

New from St Andrew's Church
Just a reminder that you are all invited to St Andrew’s Parish Tea Party on Sunday 28th January from 3-6pm.  This is a chance for everyone connected to St Andrew’s (and we include the school community in that) to get to know one another better, and there’ll be games for all ages.  It’s a bring and share tea, so please bring a plate of food to share.  Tea, coffee and squash will be provided.  All welcome.
Our following event at Tadpole Farm will be our all age service just at the end of half term on Sunday 18th February.  We’ll be serving tea and coffee from 4pm when there will be a craft for children and the short service for all ages will begin soon after 4.  The theme for February will be ‘Love for everyone’.
Hoping to see you soon

Y3 visit to Abbey Park

On Thursday 25th January, all children in year 3 will be taking part in an exciting afternoon of sport at Abbey Park School. The children will walk over to the school after lunch and they will get to experience a variety of different sporting activities lead by some Abbey Park students.  We will be back in time for home time so usual pick up applies. Please ensure that all children have their full PE kits in school - including full jogger bottoms and hoodies/sweatshirts as per the uniform list (see website).
