Reminder re club dates and swimming dates
Just a reminder there are no school run clubs this week due to parents meetings. School run clubs start again next week and run for four weeks. There are no school run clubs in the weeks beginning 4th and 11th December. Swimming for Y2 children is not on this week or next week. It recommences on 15th November and the last swimming of this term is on 6th December - there is no swimming on 13th December.

Health and Safety
Towards the end of last term I asked our local Police Community Support Officer to come along and give us some advice re parking and road safety around school.  The Officer spent some time talking to myself and Eric, the Traffic Marshall employed by Crest Nicholson, and some time observing the parking and issues around school at pick up time.  We all acknowledge that parking can be tricky and some of you go to great lengths to park safely and walk a further distance in to school - thank you for that.  We also know that some of you find the parking approach of other people to be less than considerate and would ask that all parents/carers/grandparents/childminders to think about the Health and Safety of the children when parking e.g.please avoid parking on dropped kerbs; avoid parking on corners as you then block the view of the road; avoid blocking in other cars (please don't assume that all cars parked in the car park belong to people who are staff i.e. they may want to leave at 3:30); avoid using disabled spaces unless you have pass issued by school... if you park in any of these ways you run the risk of, at the very least, causing a heated discussion in front of children and at worst an accident. Thank you to you all for your help and support in managing this on-going issue.

Friends of Tadpole Farm Parent Group

A big thank you to all those of you who came along to the Extraordinary General Meetings this week. At these meetings it was decided that we would have a committee made up of the Chair, Treasurer, Secretary and then two year group representatives from each year group. This would give us a strong committee and ensure the workload was more widely spread. We have volunteers for Chair, Treasurer and Secretary plus one year group rep for Y1 and two for Y3. This means we are looking for Year group reps as follows:-
Nursery - 2 parent representatives
Reception - 2 parent representatives
Year 1 - 1 parent representative
Year 2 - 2 parent representatives
Year 4/5 - 2 parent representatives.
This group would meet once a term to decide on what fundraising should take place and then pairs of committee members would take responsibility for getting event working parties together as a sub-committee to organise each event.  The main committee would also select which school requests would get support and then fundraise for these specific target areas.
Of course some of you can't commit to regular meetings but might just want to be part of working parties - there'll be a chance to sign up for that too.  Others would rather just be on call to help and we'll be building up a helpers contact list so please sign up to that.
Your support is vital to keep this group going and all the children benefit - you automatically become a member of the FOTF when your child joins the school so please get involved.
At the meetings, those attending decided what to do with some of the monies raised last year - each class will be given £100 to spend on games they can get out at wet break times - this will help the children to understand how to plan spending money to get the best value and also to respect what they buy.  It was also decided to support the further development of the library with a donation of £1500.
The Xmas fair will take place on 1st December from 3:30 - 5:30.  The meetings decided that they would give each class £10 and would ask that the children created items to sell with the aim of at least doubling their money - maybe you could give your children some ideas of things they could do - they'll be working on this after the October holiday.
The meetings also discussed how the Xmas Fayre roles could be split up and decided that each year group's parents would take responsibility for one aspect of the fair e.g. one year group's parents might run the tumble for example; another year group might run the games areas... this way everyone can get involved and share the work as well as the enjoyment.
Watch out for a questionnaire coming out about how to get involved and with details of the first committee meeting of this academic year.

Reading workshop - useful websites

Thank you to all those of you who came along to our parent workshop last week - we hope you found it useful. Here are the links to websites that we referred to:-

KS1 and KS2

All parents - Diwali Day - this Wednesday 18th October

This week we will be celebrating Diwali on Wednesday the 18th October, the last day of this term. All the children are asked to come to school wearing red, gold or other bright colours. The children will be taking part in various activities to celebrate this Festival of Light.

Message for Y3/4/5 parents and children re what to wear this week

Year 3/4/5 have already been told they have a very busy few days and here's just a reminder of what they need to come dressed in...
Monday - all to wear Forest School clothes as they will be out and about as part of their art project
Tuesday - all to come in PE kit (black tracksuit/joggers/sweatshirt or school hoodie, white round necked t-shirt, trainers) as they have a PE day
Wednesday - Diwali clothes as detailed above.

Message for Y2 parents re swimming

Please note that there will be no Year 2 swimming on 6th November - this session will be replaced by a session on January 3rd instead.

Messages for Y1 parents re drop off, SeeSaw and PE

Seesaw - This is the online access for parents to be able to see learning the children have done in school and that they have recorded online.  Codes will be coming home with the children and you will need to download the app.  Once downloaded, follow the instructions on the code sheet to scan and log in to your child's account.  Any problems please chat to the Year 1 team who will help you out.

Drop off - The children are all settled in Year 1 so please could we ask that they say goodbye at the gate and then go inside to start their day.  They have lots to do when they get in to the classrooms so can give you a wave before they go in to the gate rather than from the windows.

PE - Next term our PE day is  changing to Tuesday and Wednesday,; please ensure PE kit is in on these days and named - especially daps. Thank you.
