Welcome from Rev Sally Robertson - St Andrew's Church
Over the summer I took up the role of Priest-in-Charge at St Andrew’s - Tadpole Farm Academy’s local parish church. I am very much looking forward to getting to know the school better in the coming months. I’ll be joining the Local Board and coming into take Assemblies once a month. On those mornings I’ll be available in the Drop Zone from 8.30am if anyone would like to chat about anything connected to St Andrew’s. This Thursday, 21st September is the first of those mornings.
In the coming months we’re intending to start a worship service for All Ages at Tadpole Farm Academy, probably on a Sunday afternoon about once a month. If you’d like to know more about that or have any ideas about the kind of service which would appeal to you and your family, do let me know.
In the mean time you’re always welcome at St Andrew’s Church at 10am every Sunday. The first Sunday of the month is our children’s service – on the 1st October we’ll be celebrating Harvest Festival and receiving food and money donations for Swindon Food Bank. Other Sundays we have Sunday School available. We also run an all age service at St Francis School Taw Hill once a month. The next one is 24th September at 4pm. We’ll be looking at “The Church as a body” – craft, games and worship for all ages followed by tea and cake.
Finally, some of you may have met Revd Phil Ashby who has been the Associate Priest at St Andrew’s for over 3 years. He will be leaving us at the end of September, so we’re saying ‘thank you and good bye’ to him on Sunday 24th September.
Information about St Andrew’s Church is always available on our website www.nschurch.org.uk and why not follow us on Facebook @standrews.northswindon?
Looking forward to meeting you soon

An email has been sent to the email address of the person who signed up each child for clubs. Please remember that club dates are as listed above in the calendar and that pick up for all school run clubs is 4:30 from the double gates by the Drop Zone.
Donation of defibrillator - Janet's Puppy School
You may remember me letting you know of the generous donation by Janet's Puppy School of a portable defibrillator for our school. Janet is coming in to Friday Worship this week so we can thank her and will be bringing her dog with her. Obviously, as you would expect from a dog trainer, her dog is impeccably behaved but if you feel your child may be ore by this please let me know.
Quick requests - names in uniforms; water in water bottles; birthdays; painting shirts; help with Forest School
Names in uniforms - please check that all items your child bring in to school are named - we already have missing sweatshirts so please double check you've got the ones you expect to have at home and pop in to school any that have made their way home but are not items that belong to your child;
Water in water bottles - only water should be in water bottles not squash or juice or milk etc. Water is easy to wipe up when spilt and is the recommended fluid for hydration. If you feel your child needs something else than water please let me know. Any water bottles containing things other than water will be sent home - thank you for your help with this.
Birthdays - we celebrate every child's birthday in whole school worship and in class - we know the children like to bring treats to share with others in their class. This can though, cause difficulties for us in school so could we ask that you keep any sharing things such as sweets and cakes for home as we have children with a variety of allergies in school and some parents do not like their children to have particular sweet treats;
Help! We need...
painting shirts - do you have any unwanted men's shirts that we could turn in to painting overalls -if so please drop off at the School Office - thank you.
Help with Forest School - are you an outdoorsy type of person? Are you free on a Tuesday? would you like to help each week with Forest School? If so you will need a DBS check so lease pop in to the School Office and volunteer. If we get sufficient volunteers we will create a rota. It's great fun!
Y3/4/5 - break time snacks and lunch boxes
The younger children in Nursery, Reception and Year 1/2 all get government funded fruit at break time. This is not available for Year 3/4/5. They may bring in a fruit - fresh or dried - snack for break time. They all know this but the message re not sweets, crisps or chocolate seems not to have made it home! Could we ask for your help in only providing fresh or dried fruit and no other fruit, sweet or snack item - thank you.
The Y3/4/5 children have also been having some less healthy items in lunch boxes - could we again ask for your help to make sure lunch boxes follow the healthy guidelines shared previously.
YR - Squirrels and Owls - Change to end of day pick up routine and All About Me Bags
To make things easier at the end of the day the Reception class teachers are going to trial Owls coming out of the usual door into the parent waiting area and Squirrels coming out of the small side gate to the left of the usual door into the parents waiting area. Let us know, after a week or so, how you think this is going.
On Friday the children took home an All About Me bag. This is to help us get to know your child and your family better. We ask that your child fills the bag with 4 items that are special to them and your family. The bags will need to be brought back into school on Wednesday so that they can be shared with the class. Bags will be returned home on Friday.
