PE Kit reminder
The children in YN to Y1 need their PE kit in school all week as they may be doing PE at different times.  The PE kit just needs to be a plain white round necked T-shirt and black shorts with daps.  Please name all items.  If your child does not have a PE kit will will send a note home to let you know that the kit is not in school.

Parent Workshop - Hints and Tips for parenting
Thank you to those of you who came to the Parenting Workshop last week - hints and tips for parenting.  It's been lovely to hear that some of the ideas have already been of use to you.  I have been asked if I can provided a handout so will put this together and make it available in the website by the end of the February holiday.

Reminders -
Friday Celebration Worship and Show Me Sessions next week - just a reminder that you are invited in to school this Friday for celebration worship and also after school next week (see calendar) for our Show Me sessions.
Active Kids 2017 - Sainsbury vouchers - January 25th was the first day for collecting these and the collection dates run until 2nd May 2017 - why not ask all your friends, family and work colleagues to help too if they are not already supporting other schools?
Lunch boxes - as mentioned in  previous blogs please let us know by Wednesday of the week before if your child will be bringing a lunch box to school.  If you don't let us know then a dinner will have been ordered for that day, which we will have paid for so, from this week, we will send any not previously notified lunch boxes home with a note and maybe your child could have them for tea - that way less food will be going to waste - thank you.

Newsblog Term 3 Week 3

Hello All

Thank you for all the positive feedback we have had about the operation of the Drop Zone - it's great to know we are making a positive difference for you.  Most of the Year 1 and 2 children are using it now as are some of the YR children, who are guided along the corridors by school staff.  Those of you that do have to park in the lay-bys outside school - there is a reminder below about safe parking as we have had concerns expressed by some parents.

The two lucky children who won the Popcorn Machine in the recent Edwards and Ward competition were Ruthie and Joshua - congratulations both of you!

Parent Workshop 3 - Practical Parenting Hints and Tips
Sign up sheets for this week's parent workshop (Thursday 26th January 6-7:30 pm) will be in the school office lobby from Monday, will be available at the drop zone or you can email in to let us know you are coming.  We don't have all the answers but we do know that by talking about and sharing ideas you will go home with at least one idea that will make a positive difference to your parenting.

World Book Day and Book Fayre
This is just to let you know that World Book Day is 2nd March 2017 and children may come in to school dressed as their favourite book character - more details nearer the time.  The Book Fayre will be in school from 14th - 21st March and we would welcome volunteers to help run this - please let the School Office know if you can help.

Sainsbury Vouchers
We are again collecting Sainsbury vouchers to help us expand the items we have for PE and playtimes - all donations from friends, family and colleagues are welcome.

Chinese New Year Day
We will be celebrating Chinese New Year this Friday 28th January, which is Chinese New Year's Eve.  This year will be the Year of the Rooster and the children will be taking part in a variety of activities to appreciate, celebrate and understand the traditions associated with this cultural festival.

Brief News
High Vis Jackets - Crest Nicholson again have kindly donated high viz waistcoats for all of our YR children.  These will be going home with the children this week.  Obviously they all look the same so we will have written your child's name in the waistcoat before we send them home.  Wearing them to and from school will ensure they can be more easily seen by the many vehicles moving around the site.
Parking - I have again had complaints from parents about others who park half-on, half-off the pavement so blocking the pavement and covering the dropped kerbs.  I know that the area directly outside school does not have a lay-by but there are lay-bys a few paces either side.  Please can I ask that those of you park in the road outside school park in the lay-bys only or use the drop zone.
Headlice - we have had a number of children with headlice and would advise that all children who have long hair have it tied back every day until half term.  This slightly reduces the opportunity for the lice to move between children.
