All of year 2 will be going to forest schools for a habitat workshop on Tuesday 2nd January (first day back). So please can they bring warm, forest school clothes including wellington boots and an old coat (just in case it gets muddy).

Tube shaped items needed for Y2
Year 2 would appreciate it if, on the first day back, you could bring in any tube shaped junk modelling items, for example, kitchen roll tubes; cling film tubes; kitchen foil tubes etc.
Thank you very much.

Head Lice Advice
Following on from the last blog, please check your child's hair one last time to see if we can start the term without small visitors - thank you.

Uniform Reminders
We do try and keep the uniform easy to wear, reasonably priced and comfortable but ask you to help us by ensuring your child wears proper school uniform every day. The uniform is listed on the website - http://www.tadpolefarmcepa.co.uk/parent-pages/uniform/
Can I particularly ask that you look at the PE list; the note re jewellery and hair accessories and also the colours for uniform - the children look so smart when they are wearing the school uniform and are so proud to show they are part of Tadpole Farm.

2017/18 Newsblog Term 2 Christmas Holiday

Merry Christmas and Season’s Greeting to Everyone,

Thank you so much for the many lovely gifts, cards and kind words that you have given to all the staff.  Our staffroom has never been so well stocked with yummy things and we all definitely started the Christmas foodie season early – thank you.  The final weeks of nativities, Christmas Jumper Day, Christmas parties and culminating in the Carols by Candlelight event got us all in to the Christmas spirit – thank you to all those of you who came along and supported, enjoyed and sang with the children.  Especially thank you to those of you who came to the Carols by Candlelight, dressing up warmly and joining in with the singing – very Christmassy with the backdrop of some snow still on the field.

Thank you from and to FOTF
A huge thank you to all those of you who have helped out with FOTF events recently and to Katie for creating a great team and community approach - the response of offers of help have been very welcome.  Message from Katie, the Chairperson, ...
Just wanted to write a few words to thank everyone that has helped the last few weeks! Whether you was manning a stall at the Fayre, helping set up, providing refreshments at the nativity or warming up hot dogs at the Carol service! Every little bit of help has been appreciated!

We are overwhelmed with how we are ending the year, only setting up the committee under a month ago. We have a raised an amazing grand profit of £1419.37!

We couldn’t have done any of that without all the fantastic help & support we received so thank you!

Our next meeting is 25th January at 6:30pm & anyone and everyone is welcome! We always need your help & support to make these events & future events happen! And we have lots of exciting things planned for next year! So please come along if you would like!

We hope you have a lovely Christmas & New Year! X

Thank you from Young Carers Group

We were overwhelmed by the donations from both school and the wider community of gifts for our Young Carers Group.  They loved getting them, wrapped up in wrapping paper designed by our Year 3,4,5 children - very colourful and full of love.  Thank you.

YR/YN Parents - message re Tapestry

A few of you have experienced problems logging on to Tapestry this term and have been asked for a pin code. We are unsure why this has happened as login should be the same as last time when you set your password. Mrs Holt has been in contact with the Tapestry support team and they are looking into the issue. Hopefully it will be resolved soon. Please keep a look out for any emails from Tapestry of how to reactivate your account. Tapestry will remain open over the holidays so that you still have a chance to share your child's learning.

Christmas at St Andrew’s – support our parish community

Christmas at St Andrew’s Church
As Christmas rapidly approaches, there is plenty of opportunity to celebrate Jesus’ birth with St Andrew’s church.  We have 2 services which are particularly child friendly
17th December 4pm at St Andrew’s Church – Family Carol Service
24th December 4pm at Tadpole Farm Academy – Pop-up Nativity – an interactive retelling of the Nativity Story with carols. We would love children to come dressed as characters from the nativity story, if they want to.
You’ll find full details of all our Christmas services here.
However you spend the Christmas period, I wish you all a peaceful and joyful time.
Revd. Sally Robertson

Quick Reminders - Parent Pay, Head Lice, Holiday Requests
Parent Pay - Message for all parents who book dinners in advance ... dinner booking for January has opened up and they can book through to Feb half term. Orders for first week back MUST be done by Wednesday 27th December or children will need to bring a packed lunch for all of that first week back.
Also, Y2 parents, the contribution for swimming for term 3/4 is now a payment item on Parent pay and is due before the start of term as we swim first week back -  could all Y2 parents please check as we do rely on contributions to be paid in order to continue this provision. Thank you.
Head Lice - Head Lice are around in school and this holiday is an ideal period to treat them at home - look at this web page for ideas on detection; suggestions for treatment and recommendations for regular checking.
Holiday Requests and Absences - our overall attendance figure for the year currently stands at 94.3%, excluding YN, and this is lower than we are expected to achieve.  Our target is 96.5%, which allows for sickness, medical attendance and exceptional holidays/closure days.  Next term, I will be writing to those of you whose children have low levels of attendance to see what we can do to ensure their attendance is higher for the remainder of the year. Education during the primary years is when your child learns and consolidates the building blocks for future learning - please help us to help them do this by keeping holidays for non-term time periods.  Could you also please note that any sickness absence over five days will need to be evidenced by a note from GP - please don't be offended when we ask for this - we are asked to show evidence that we have followed up absences and are categorising them correctly.

Competition Winners

We are very fortunate to be well supported by the local developers and recently both Crest and David Wilson have funded competitions in school.

David Wilson sponsored a Christmas Card competition which Year 3 worked on in school.  Sarah won first prize, a £25 gift voucher; Isabelle won second prize £15 gift voucher and Dexter won third prize, a £10 gift voucher.  All three were surprised and very pleased to won.  The designs were used by David Wilson to send to their clients and friends.

Crest Nicholson kindly supported our business enterprise stalls at the Christmas Fayre and were impressed enough to give every class a £10 Amazon Voucher to buy Wet Playtime games.  They also awarded three additional prizes - one went to YR for having the best presented stall; one to YN for having named cards to attract parents and carers to buy the products and one to Y2 because they had donations rather than prizes as they had been thinking about families who may not be able to afford as much to spend but who still wanted to support the Fayre - each of these year groups received an additional £20 Amazon voucher to spend on wet playtime games.  All the children had thought about and taken part in producing and pricing goods - future Dragon's Den contestants maybe!!!

Year 2 - Donations only

YR - Best presented stall

YN - Named card sets for sale
Y1 - Commended for stall decoration

Y3/4/5 - Commended for ideas and amount of goods for sale
