Opening of the Drop Zone
As promised early this year, we are going to open the Drop Zone at the front of the school for morning drop off.  It will operate as follows:-
1.  The Drop Zone, Year 2 Entrance Gate and Side gate (currently used by YN, YR, Y1) will all open from 8:40.
2.  Children in YR, Y1 and Y2 may be dropped at the Drop Zone and staff will make sure they go through the school to their classroom.  YN should be dropped at YN as usual and you will need to park safely, not in the Drop Zone, to do this.
3.  All Y1 and Y2 children, whether parents are using drop zone or not, will go through the Year 2 gate.  The Year 1 doors will not be open in the mornings - this is to ensure we have enough staff to operate the drop zone safely.  At least one YR, Y1 and Y2 teacher will be supporting the drop zone in the mornings so if you need to see a teacher then there will be someone there for you to see.
4.  If using the Drop Zone, you should drive into the drop zone area and your children will need to be ready to leave the car quickly - staff will collect them from the car and see them inside - you can then drive off.    This does mean that no-one can park in the drop zone - if you want to give a message to a teacher or the office please park outside the school grounds and walk in.
5.  It will mean a queue of cars is likely to form waiting for a space in the drop zone so, if you have been using the car park at the side of school you may want to rethink as the drive through school car park may get congested.
6.  To do this safely please can we ask that those of you who have been parking behind the already parked cars opposite the drop zone no longer park there as this area will need to be kept clear.
All parking must be in safe places, not half-up half off the kerb - if you are parked somewhere unsafe then please do not take offence when you are asked to move.  We have the safety of all the school community at heart.
We will review the operation of the Drop Zone at the end of term 3.

Home Learning over Christmas
We have not sent home any specific home learning for the holidays as we are sure you and your families have much to do already.  We would ask that you keep up with reading; spotting phonics and words in the environment; involving your children in practical maths and encouraging writing of lists, menus, gift tags etc - Tadpole writing style of course!

Charity Support Updates
Thank you for all the support you have given to various charities this term - the Poppy Appeal raised £40.24; Christmas Jumper day raised £95.00 and there were lovely donations for the FoodBank which will help make a positive difference to Christmas for local families.

Absences from School
I have had some enquiries re absences from school following on from publicity in the media about challenges to fines imposed by some Local Authorities.  We are required to follow the Government guidelines re absence and would ask that you send an email to school@tadpolefarmcepa.co.uk with as much detail re absence as you can.

Clubs News
As from 1/1/17 WIMS11 Football club are not part of normal school clubs and will run to their own timetables, with them billing you directly.  This is similar to the Ballet School who rent out our hall space - both clubs will operate independently of school.
The normal after school clubs will be announced as per the diary above.

School Admissions for YR 2017
If you or someone you knows has a child due to start school in September 2017 then just a reminder that the deadline for admissions is 15th January 2017.

What a lot of treats we had last week - many of you came to the Show Me sessions and told us how much you valued these; lots of positive feedback was received about the parent access to Tapestry and See-Saw; the Reception nativity was wonderful and then, during Friday celebration worship, the week finished with the children, who go to LilyPad, sharing the performing skills they have been learning at LilyPad.  Such a breadth of skills, talents and enjoyment in learning and working together shows just what our school is here for.

Road closures - notification from Crest
We have received notification from Crest Nicholson of temporary road closures and diversions coming in from the original Tadpole Gate end of the road.  The closures are happening this week - please see letter and maps emailed to you for details... at least the road surfaces will be better in that area following this work.
Whilst this work is being done, the bus will use the school road for turning in so please can I remind you that no-one should be parking behind cars, which are already parking in the parking bays as this blocks the through road.  You may be asked to move if you park here - we are doing this for the safety of your children and your cars.

Christmas Lunch and Parties
The children have said what option they would like for Christmas lunch - some of those children who have packed lunch normally have chosen a lunch too so you may want to check with your child.
As it says above the children will be having Year Group parties - YN can come to school in they party clothes and YR, 1 and 2 can bring theirs to change in to at lunchtime.  They will be playing party games so make sure that the party clothes are practical for that.

Carols by Candlelight
This Thursday sees our first Carols by Candlelight event - Y1 and Y2 have been practising hard for this event which is a combination of carols and readings.  It's going to be held outside in the playground, using our sandpit as a 'stable'.  We have ordered some additional lighting but would appreciate it if you brought a torch with you too (our safe version of a 'candle' :)).  Dress to keep warm and let's all hope or pray for a dry evening.

Last Day of Term
Friday 16th is the last day of term - we finish at normal time and LilyPad is open as    usual.  The children may wear a Christmas Jumper on that day and their own choice of bottoms for a donation to Save the Children as part of their Christmas Jumper Appeal 2016.

Children exchanging Christmas cards
It is the season of the great Christmas card exchange and to make things easier for you and the staff we have a few suggestions:-
  • why not just send a card to the whole class rather than individual cards?  This would save you time and money and we will make a display of these in each classroom.
  • if your child is sending individual cards to special friends whose names they will know then make sure they have the class name on the envelope too please
  • if your child needs help with remembering names of friends then we do have class lists of names available - please ask the class teachers.
Please post all cards in the class boxes in the main entrance by the school office - they will be distributed once a week on a Thursday (8th and 15th).

Come and join us - Show Me sessions and Friday Celebration Worship
This week sees our second Show Me sessions of this year, where you are welcome to come in to school with your child to see what they have been learning and share some of those learning experiences with them.  Times are in diary above, we hope you can join us.
Also this week, you are welcome to join us on Friday for Celebration worship, which this time includes LilyPad children sharing some of the activities they have been doing.

Pick and Mix Home Learning
Friday 9th is the day when this term's Pick and Mix home learning can be brought into school to be shared with others.  Year 1 and 2 children will have this on display following celebration worship on Friday so please pop in and have a look at the wonderful things they have done.

Staffing changes and welcomes
This term we welcomed Hazel Flint to the school team - Hazel is working in the School Office supporting the financial and administration side of the school.  In January, the senior leadership team gains a new member - John Spencer, who will spend January to August getting to know the children and the school, preparing the opening of Key Stage two and supporting our growing school.  John Spencer and Emma Holt will be Assistant Principals; Alison Flynn will be further developing her role as Key Stage 1 Leader; Niki Wilding is developing her role to become School Business Manager and Emma Smith's role will be defined once she returns from maternity leave.  We are all looking forward, with excitement, to this next stage in the development of our learning community.
 Request re dogs
There has been a noticeable increase in the number of dogs coming in to the school grounds.  Just to clarify again, no dogs, whether they are being carried or not, are allowed within the school grounds.  Dogs can be left tied to the outside fence, at your own risk, if you wish.

Feedback from Parent Workshop
Thank you to the very many of you who came along to the maths workshop last week.  A number of you asked about where you could get certain resources from and I promised to put details in this week's blog -
