I hope you are enjoying the end of the summer holidays and thought you might find this blog useful for planning diaries etc. This blog is quite long so you may want to settle down with a cup of tea before beginning! In this blog:
- Dates for the New School Year
- First Day Back celebrations
- Details of Staffing for the New School Year
- Parent Survey Initial Feedback
- Website
- Home Learning
- LilyPad Update
- Arrangements for Dropping Off and Picking Up
- Uniform Reminders

Dates for the New School Year
Inserted below, also attached as a pdf to the email you should have received and will be on display on the school noticeboard (new board outside main entrance) and website calendar, are 3 calendars, one for each set of two terms, and an overview of 2017/18 term dates. The feedback from some parents, as part of the survey, asked for as much notice as possible of dates, dressing up requirements, donations etc. I have done my best to do this for the whole year - obviously things will come up but I have endeavoured to keep timings and patterns of things happening the same each term and will give you as much notice as we can of any additions.

On the afternoon of the first day that the children are back, we are going to have a celebration - as it's the 100th anniversary of Roald Dahl's birth we have decided to go for dressing up based on Roald Dahl characters - there's a summer holiday project for you all!! Lots of ideas on http://www.roalddahl.com/home/kids
Please note that, due to numbers, we are asking that YN and YR parents/carers and children come from 2:00 - 2:30 and Y1 and Y2 parents come from 2:30 - 3:15 pm.
YN - children who are already in YN (those who started with us in January 2016) can come to school already dressed up; children who are having 1 hour settling in sessions in the morning should be collected at the end of the hour and then may come back with their parent/carer at 2:00 pm to join in the fun. All YN children are invited to come along with parents/carers at 2:00 pm to join our party.
YR - children who are in the morning session should be collected at 12:30 pm - all YR children, costumed and ready for fun, are invited to come to school with parent/carers at 2:00pm.
Y1 and Y2 - children may come to school in the morning in Roald Dahl themed costumes. Parents and carers are invited to join us at 2:30 pm - please note different time to YN and YR due to space and safety issues - any parent coming will collect their child from their usual classroom collection door before enjoying the activities on offer. Any child whose parent/carer can't make it will be part of the teachers groups and will enjoy the same activities too.
Those of you that have a child in both YN/YR and Y1/2, so will obviously want to stay on, will need your YN/YR child to stay with you for the 2:30 - 3:15 slot. This time will be for Y1/2 to enjoy the activities and, as your YN/YR child will have already had their opportunity, they will need to stay with you.
In response to feedback re queues etc we have made the arrangements above and would be grateful of you could help us by coming at these times. Without giving too much away there will be bouncing opportunities; inventing opportunities; team based activities; making opportunities and tasting opportunities. Look forward to seeing you there.

Parent Survey Initial Feedback
Thank you tall those of you who responded to our parent survey - the results will be available during September, on the website and the new notice board by the front entrance to school. Details of Staffing for the New School Year
One of the comments we had from parents is that, at the
start of the year, it’s difficult to know who is who in the school, as lots of
new staff start and it would be useful to have a list they could keep at home…
so here is a helpful list. Any staff
that have LP against their name also care for children in our Lilypad provision
at various times.
Mrs Emma Smith, YN Lead Teacher and Senior Leadership Team,
and Mrs Charlotte Warren, YR Teaching Assistant, are currently on maternity
leave.

Thank you tall those of you who responded to our parent survey - the results will be available during September, on the website and the new notice board by the front entrance to school. You will see, from the two items above, that we have already put in to place some of the responses to your feedback:
- more opportunities to come in to school to see your child's work - the 'Show Me' sessions, to look at books, once a term plus the parental access to Tapestry and Seesaw - both online applications that will give you the opportunity to see what your children are doing in school that may not be recorded in a book - more details on this during term 1.
- more opportunities to join in worship - each term one of the classes will lead a normal weekly worship to which that classes families are invited; times of school services have been varied to allow those with varied shift patterns to attend at least one service during the year; an open invitation is given to you all to join us for one Friday Celebration worship a term, where children's achievement and effort is celebrated.
- more notice of dates, times, need for dressing up etc - see calendar for this information
- Information on staff names and roles - see above
- Provide parental workshops to help us support our children - see calendar - schedule of content will be issued in early in term 1
Website
We appreciate that the website needs updating and this is in hand - we ask you to bear with us during this time - if there is something you need to know and cannot access during this period please pop in to school office or drops an email.
LilyPad Update
The last blog contained details about payments for Lilypad - please review this if you need details of payment dates etc. LilyPad will be open on Monday 5th September - usual times - 7:30 am in the morning and closing at 6:00 pm in the evening. Please beware that we are unable to open before 7:30 a.m, the insurance does not cover us and the staff are setting up the provision to be a safe and fun environment for your children so can't look after your child before that time.
Arrangements for Dropping Off and Picking Up
We realise that it will be busier and so, by the end of Term 1, we may introduce using the drop zone as exactly that - a drop and drive off zone. However, we also appreciate that many of you will want to drop your children to class during this first term and that YR will want to continue to do that for much of the year. The arrangements for term 1 will be as follows:-
YN - please use the side gate near the main entrance and drop at the door with Hedgehogs on it - drop off time is 8:40 or 12:20 - you're welcome to stay for 10-15 minutes to settle your child in to the class- pick up from same place 11:40 or 3:20 unless staying for lunch in which case use School Office entrance for drop off for lunch club or pick up from lunch club
YR - please use the side gate near the main entrance - normal drop off time is 8:50 - please feel free to come 10 minutes earlier and settle your child in to the class - there will be activities out for them to get involved in - we would ask that you aim to say goodbye and leave the classroom by 8:55. From Term 2 the doors will open at 8:50 and we ask that you drop your child at the door. Pick up from same place.
Y1 - please use the side gate near the main entrance and drop at the door with a Fox and a Badger on it - start time is 8:50. Pick up from same place
Y2 - please use the front gate near the drop zone - the children will use the door with the rabbit and mole on it - start time is 8:50 - we'd be grateful if you could drop at the gate and they walked in to the building on their own. Please wait outside gate and staff will send children out to you.
As we will be having children using the front gates by the Drop Zone please can we ask that you do not park any cars in this Zone - will be good practise for when it is used as a Drop Zone from later in school year. If you do park there then please don't be offended when you are asked to move.
LilyPad - drop off and pick up from the same gate as previously though children will use the door with the lilypad and frog on it... which has moved one door to the right.Provided that those dropping off or picking up from Lilypad are only doing that then you may use the Drop Zone as this is what it was designed for.
