We have been beginning to plan the school organisation for next academic year and will keep you informed of decisions as they are made. The first of these decisions has already been made and I am very pleased to tell you that Mrs Flynn and Mrs Everitt will be moving in to Year 1 in September. The adverts for two new teachers, one in Reception and one in Year 1, have already been placed and we have had lots of interest already. Interviews will take place before Easter. The adverts for teaching assistants will be going out later this term. It's very exciting to be beginning this next step in growing the school and I look forward to giving you updates over the next few months.

What super story tellers we have become this term!! The children have had great fun learning about all the Traditional Tales. We have learnt all about different characters and settings and even had a go at creating our own stories. Our favourite tale was the Gruffalo with his terrible tusks and terrible jaws. We made his dark cave in the classroom and explored using torches in the dark.
Thank you to all the parents who came to our Family Friday and joined in with our Gruffalo party. We had a great time and we hope you enjoyed sharing our learning with us. Watch this space for our next Family Friday session!
This term we have been learning the values of Perseverance and Truthfulness. The children have been very brave and persevered at things they find tricky and engaged in risk taking activities. They have been balancing on bridges, building towers and climbing structures in a safe environment. The children all know that it’s better to be truthful about everything and have been trying really hard but, like all of us, they are still practising!
On Friday, we celebrated Chinese New Year and learnt about how people all over the world celebrate this festival. We made our own Chinese lanterns and dragons for our parade, where we danced and played music. We even had Chinese food for a special snack… yum yum!!
We have sent home all the PE kits for washing over the holiday. Please make sure they come back to school on the first day back and that they contain a complete kit, with all items named. Lots of the children are now having a growth spurt so please check their kit still fits them, especially their daps. We often change our PE day to best fit the week’s learning so please ensure their PE kit is in school everyday.

Last term we learnt lots of different nursery rhymes; we enjoyed learning Incy Wincy Spider, Five Little Speckled Frogs, Five Currant Buns, Humpty Dumpty and The Queen of Hearts.
We acted out Five Currant Buns in a Baker's Shop and have started to think about taking away objects from a group. We enjoyed making currant buns and also taking turns to be bakers in our role play area.
The children really enjoyed helping to create their role play castle; we worked together and took turns to create the brickwork on cardboard.
We took part in lots of ‘eggsperiments’! We explored which materials could save Humpty Dumpty and also thought about what we could use to fix him again. The children built towers for Humpty Dumpty using all our different construction materials and used positional language to talk about where he was. The children talked about what eggs were like inside and observed how they changed when we heated them up.
We read lots of different stories about princes and princesses. In PE we chose partners to dance with in time to music; we even had a go at ballroom dancing! We made some yummy jam tarts for the Queen of Hearts.
We have sent home all PE kits to be washed and brought back to school the first day of term. The children have been developing their independence when looking after their belongings, so, if any items of clothing do not belong to your child, please bring them back to school for them to be handed back to their rightful owner. We also now have a lost property box next to the pegs; please look through the box if you are missing any items of clothing.
